Male and Female Created He Them

April 19, 2026 by Bernell Baldwin - Reading Time: 21 minutes

The same, or different—that is the question. If the same, that is one thing, but if men and women are basically different, a serious problem, and today’s society is headed into a turbulent tangle. Really, now, how different are the sexes? Can anything be done to resolve the tangle we are in?

Male and Female Created He Them

From surface anatomy, it is obvious that men and women are different. They also differ in internal anatomy. But what about physiology—about functional capacities? To begin with, there are about 120 trillion cells in the human body. Each of these cells contains DNA, the code or pattern for each unique individual. Only a tiny portion of DNA functions for each cell type. Brain cells are programmed by the unfolded portion of DNA that is the template for the brain. The same is true for other cell types. The DNA in a woman’s cell is different from the DNA for a man because she has two X chromosomes (XX). Men have an XY set in each cell) Since the chromosomes of each female cell are different at their heart, there are altogether over 100 trillion differences between a woman and a man at the genetic level!1)Watson, James D. et al. Molecular Biology of the Gene, fourth edition, Benjamin/ Cummings, Menlo Park, 1987, pp 12-13 of 1163. [The first author is the published co-definer of DNA.]

Organs are made up of tissues, and tissues are made up of cells. Female organs are dramatically superior to man’s for building a baby, for nourishing, and lovingly caring for babies and children. Women can best give them the true head start for integrated excellence. A girl’s DNA instructs her cells, tissues, and organs, including the brain, to become a whole woman. These chemical signals, especially of estrogen, change her body from head to toe. No wonder girls look so different, are so unique, and act so special.2)Jacobson, Marcus, Developmental Neurobiology, third edition, Plenum Press, New York, 1991, pp 304-310 of 776. [The author is a leading authority on brain development, especially vision. Testosterone is powerful both in organizing and activating the brain; changing hormones changes the brain dimorphically by increasing the number of neurons, reducing apoptosis, cell growth, dendritic branching, synaptogenesis, synaptic function and neuronal electrical activity. Thus synaptic mileau is gender-conditioned not just SDN-POA. (one spot).]

The Brain of Women

These unique differences between men and women are not just cosmetic. Take the brain for instance. A woman’s brain is different microscopically. The receptors for several hormones coursing through the blood are designed for different purposes in women and have different distributions and effects on brain physiology and behavior. With different DNA, different receptor architecture, and logistics, brain circuits are developed differentially to direct the specific features and functions of a female.,Thus, the feminine brain is wired feminine with different hardware, different software, and different programming. Fine.3)Jacobson, Marcus, Developmental Neurobiology, third edition, Plenum Press, New York, 1991, pp 304-310 of 776.

Perception

Take perception and the reading of faces. By actual tests, baby girls right after birth are more interested in and can detect and stay focused on faces longer and can more efficiently discriminate different faces than baby boys can. This ability is sustained and becomes a permanent female talent.4)Kimura, Doreen, Sex Differences in the Brain, Scientific American, Sept. 1992, 119125. [This is a featured ankle in a thematic issue, The Mind and the Brain. Nicely illustrated in color: This whole article thematically, not just a mention here and there,.fits with this article.]

Details

College-aged young men and women were exposed to a set of different things on a table for so many seconds of observation, then everything was hidden as barriers shut off observation. Just one item was removed and then both genders were tested. The girls caught the difference(s), but the boys missed the detail. The table was there! So another valuable talent of noticing details is revealed. Women can perceive that from a display of objects viewed for only a few seconds, a vase of violets is missing!5)Kimura, Doreen, Sex Differences in the Brain, Scientific American, Sept. 1992, 119125. [This is a featured ankle in a thematic issue, The Mind and the Brain. Nicely illustrated in color: This whole article thematically, not just a mention here and there,.fits with this article.]

Fluency

Take words. Tell a room full of students to write down in two minutes all the words they can think of that begin with “L”. The girls can think of and write down more words beginning with a given letter than the boys can. By the way, their penmanship and spelling are better. The girls win and the boys lose.6)Kimura, Doreen, Sex Differences in the Brain, Scientific American, Sept. 1992, 119125. [This is a featured ankle in a thematic issue, The Mind and the Brain. Nicely illustrated in color: This whole article thematically, not just a mention here and there,.fits with this article.] By actual measurement, the parts of the female brain related to such tasks are often larger than that of males.7)Harasty J. et al. Language-associated cortical regions are proportionally larger in the female brain. Arch Neurol, 1997 Feb; 54:171-6. [In actual stereo-measurements of humans, women showed 17-30 percent increases in verbally related structures of the post-mortem brain.]

Precision and Dexterity

In the classic test of dexterity, requiring the placing of pegs in tiny holes on a pegboard, the girls win handily.8)Kimura, Doreen, Sex Differences in the Brain, Scientific American, Sept. 1992, 119125. [This is a featured ankle in a thematic issue, The Mind and the Brain. Nicely illustrated in color: This whole article thematically, not just a mention here and there,.fits with this article.] Throughout active life dexterity is important. But give a man a big hammer or a socket wrench. Then you have action!

Arithmetic Calculation

In tests requiring fast, accurate calculations, women excel. No wonder they make such good bank tellers. And have you seen them count money recently? Little wonder that many ladies can do better in keeping the check book straight!!9)Kimura, Doreen, Sex Differences in the Brain, Scientific American, Sept. 1992, 119125. [This is a featured ankle in a thematic issue, The Mind and the Brain. Nicely illustrated in color: This whole article thematically, not just a mention here and there,.fits with this article.]

Many women are proficient in business acumen. The Bible mentions even this, as Solomon, extolling in Proverbs 31 an ideal wife, states, “She considers a field, and buys it: from her profits she plants a vineyard.” Obviously, her husband is proud of her ability and wisdom in this transaction! He also mentions her kindness, her enterprising service, “She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” No wonder, he concludes, “Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.”

Brain Development

The female brain is less divided up into subsections and weighs less!10)Giedd, JN et al. Sexual dimorphism of the developing human brain, Prog Neuropsychopharmacol Biol Psychiatry, 1997, Nov; 21:1185-1201. [This NIH-based brain NMR study of 121 healthy children and youth documents 9 percent increase in size of male brain.] Clear up until early adulthood girls are years ahead in finishing the building of their brain-nerve components and insulating them with myelin.11)Jacobson, Marcus, Developmental Neurobiology, third edition, Plenum Press, New York, 1991, pp 304-310 of 776. (one spot).] Hence it is common for girls to excel in school, at least until the adolescence.

Concerning Toys

Turn a group of children loose with a big box of toys. Strange things happen. Boys grab big red trucks. Girls are more genteel in their selections.’ Many people do not realize that the double XX chromosomes of fetal girls foster those genteel feminine hormones perfusing their brains before birth. This shapes the brain to be a girl, then a woman, permanently. So the roots of adult womanhood are long, deep, and strong.12)Moir, Anne and David Jessel, Brain Sex, Dell Publishing, New York, 1991, pp 233. [This small readable work is the first author’s summary of 20 years of study into gender differences.]

A boy playing with a toy truck

Nurturance

A normal woman’s brain is designed for skillful, empathetic, unselfish nurturance. As a rule, ladies are just plain better at taking thoughtful care of children or of other people’s feelings and needs. America was discovered by men. But, it ideally takes a woman with her man to build the happiest of homes. A talented mother can care for one child and keep another child on track without letting the beans burn.

But men are one-target, one-program people.13)Moir, Anne and David Jessel, Brain Sex, Dell Publishing, New York, 1991, pp 233. [This small readable work is the first author’s summary of 20 years of study into gender differences.] North Pole or bust! When nurturance dies out of our society the jungle has arrived. Sometimes it may seem like the jungle is closer now. Sensitive, skillful nurturance is not a low-priority commodity, it is a beautiful necessity. Obviously, single women can excel in nurturance activities in many fields of service.

Better Generalists

Because the female brain is more widely and diffusely organized, large brain lesions do less functional damage. For example, a smaller stroke can destroy motor speech in men.14)Moir, Anne and David Jessel, Brain Sex, Dell Publishing, New York, 1991, pp 233. [This small readable work is the first author’s summary of 20 years of study into gender differences.] The female brain is more multi-track in its layout. In the middle of the brain there are millions of insulated white-covered living wires for communication from one side of the brain to the other. Some researchers find gender differences here that give anatomic and physiologic basis for women’s talent for “summing” of sensation, perception, conception, feelings, memories, and thoughts. They can all be integrated in a moment. Whenever the wife says, “How is our gasoline?”—fill ‘er up!15)Jacobson, Marcus, Developmental Neurobiology, third edition, Plenum Press, New York, 1991, pp 304-310 of 776.

Summary of the Female Brain

The brain of a woman is designed to be the organ and instrument of a lady’s mind. Though smaller, it is specialized to be articulate, compassionate, empathetic, and sensitive to even the details of others’ welfare. Very fancy computers may have fault-tolerant capacities. Well, mothers have missing-data-tolerant-processing. This is the capacity to fill in even missing evidence because of the shape of all other factors in the context and memory of their gestalt. Eureka! A good mother can “see in the dark” and hear in total “unusual” silence. Never try to fool a woman. They can read faces like a book—speed reading at that.

A woman observing to pick up some hidden cues with her intuition

On average, women are more fluent, not only with words, but much more with feelings. They are better with details. Their senses, perceptions, memories, and their motor and behavioral skills bear this out. Women are talented in the motivations, skills, memories, and capacities for relationships. Early schooling is easier for girls than for boys. They thrive on it. Their relative maturity is more rapid, more predictable, reliable, and completed sooner.

The feminine bottom line is precious. Women are absolutely and beautifully essential for humanity. According to Genesis 1, Eve came from Adam by the skillful sculpture of a loving Creator. But without Eve there could be no Abel, then no Enoch, or Noah, or anybody else.

The Male Brain in a Male Body

Adam was made first, made taller, stronger, and designed to be the leader of the first family on earth. And ever since, thanks to gene and hormonal interaction, normal tiny baby boys while inside of their mothers are masculinized very early. Genetic, chemical, and physiological mechanisms shape boys into men.16)Wilson, Jean D, and James Griffin, Chap 13, Disorders of the Testes and the Male Reproductive Tract, pp 799-852 in Williams Textbook of Endocrinology, Saunders. Philadelphia. [Also, Grumback, MM and DM Styne, Chap 22, Puberty: Ontogeny, Neuroendocrinology, Physiology, and Disorders, p 1139-1221 with 721 references! This is a standard Medical School level source for endocrinology. It is heavy but authoritative.] Their brains are seven to nine percent heavier. Why?17)Giedd, JN et al. Sexual dimorphism of the developing human brain, Prog Neuropsychopharmacol Biol Psychiatry, 1997, Nov; 21:1185-1201. [This NIH-based brain NMR study of 121 healthy children and youth documents 9 percent increase in size of male brain.]

Endurance

All features of a healthy man are built for endurance—physically, mentally, and spiritually. Part of this physiological achievement is based on the secretion of the male hormones which continues for many years, even decades longer than the corresponding female hormones in what the Bible calls “the weaker vessel.”18)Wilson, Jean D, and James Griffin, Chap 13, Disorders of the Testes and the Male Reproductive Tract, pp 799-852 in Williams Textbook of Endocrinology, Saunders. Philadelphia. [Also, Grumback, MM and DM Styne, Chap 22, Puberty: Ontogeny, Neuroendocrinology, Physiology, and Disorders, p 1139-1221 with 721 references! This is a standard Medical School level source for endocrinology. It is heavy but authoritative.] This neuroendocrinology is not trivial, because it is known by serial measurement that moderate amounts of the male hormones facilitate and sustain mathematical prowess. Too much or too little compromise mathematical performance.19)Moir, Anne and David Jessel, Brain Sex, Dell Publishing, New York, 1991, pp 233. [This small readable work is the first author’s summary of 20 years of study into gender differences.]

Mathematics

A Johns Hopkins University study analyzed thousands of gifted youth in the top three percent of IQ levels.20)Benbow, CP and RM Benbow, “Biological correlates of high mathematical reasoning ability,” Progress in Brain Research, 61, De Vries, GJ et al. (Eds), Elsevier, Amsterdam (1984), 469-90 In the mathematical part of their tests, with a top possible score of 800, the boys from 11 to 13 years of age were ahead of the girls on a level of 420 or more by a ratio of 1.5 to 1.0. This means that there were 50 percent more boys at this modest achievement level. But at 500+ the ratio was more than 2:1. At 600+ it was 4:1. And at the very highest range of 700+ out of a total possible 800, the ratio is 13:1. This means that more than 13 times more boys than girls were in this top group. This talent persists throughout life.21)Moir, Anne and David Jessel, Brain Sex, Dell Publishing, New York, 1991, pp 233. [This small readable work is the first author’s summary of 20 years of study into gender differences.]

Abstractions and Truth

Tests of ability for abstract reasoning of high order reveal distinct talents of normal men. High level abstraction draws heavily on the excellence of the frontal lobe discussed below.22)Baldwin, Bernell E. “The Front Brain,” The Journal of Health & Healing, 9:1, 1984, 8- 11, 26-30

Spatial Intelligence

The right cortex is highly developed in men. Spatial tests reveal distinct superiority in the processing of three dimensional (even four dimensional) information by the male brain. This spatial intelligence can be developed into structural thinking about great principles and their relationships, as in the fields of physics or theology.23)Moir, Anne and David Jessel, Brain Sex, Dell Publishing, New York, 1991, pp 233. [This small readable work is the first author’s summary of 20 years of study into gender differences.]

Aggression and Drive

Ever watch children play? Little boys maneuver trucks that growl loud and long, until roads, dams, or airports spawn action, power, and achievement. Suppose somebody’s truck or dolly gets in the road of this empire in the sand. More than fenders can get bent! Boys are naturally aggressive little creatures. But with loving nurturance largely from Mother, and faithful discipline and modeling from Father, this capacity for drive can become achievement instead of vanity.24)Moir, Anne and David Jessel, Brain Sex, Dell Publishing, New York, 1991, pp 233. [This small readable work is the first author’s summary of 20 years of study into gender differences.]

Two boys getting into a fight

Intelligence—Two Bell Curves

Even granting that IQ issues are controversial, intelligence is a most useful faculty. Current IQ tests are neutered so that questions favoring the unique talents of either gender are eliminated. Formerly this was not so. There were two bell curves describing intelligence, a fatter bell for boys and men, a trimmer more beautiful bell for ladies. The former, classic two-bell curve paradigm is far more realistic because of the obvious fact that there are many more feebleminded men than women. And there seem to be more men in extremely high strata of intelligence.25)Jensen, AR, “The Race x Sex X Ability Interaction” p 107-161, Chap 9 in Intelligence, Genetic and Environmental Influences, Ed, Robert Cancro, Grune & Stratton, New York, 1971. [Useful historical information of perspectives on gender and intelligence.]

In statistics this more widespread distribution of a frequency curve is called “kurtosis.” Modern tests will not show much difference. Former testing fits with Nobel prize distribution and human experience.

Frontal Lobe

The largest lobe of the brain is the frontal lobe, which constitutes about 30 percent of each hemisphere. This is where love, wisdom, free moral choice, the executive power of the will, and power of abstract truth preside; the frontal lobe is the executive lobe of the healthy brain. To build even the infrastructure of the frontal lobe takes about 30 years for men.

On the other hand, the anatomical structure of the female frontal lobe, being simpler and smaller, is completed in about 25 years.26)Baldwin, Bernell E. “The Front Brain,” The Journal of Health & Healing, 9:1, 1984, 8- 11, 26-30 Even in the primate, the male frontal lobe shows superior capacity for acting on memory for events in space and time, a function called “delayed alternation behavior.”27)Kelly, Dennis D. Chap 61, Sexual Differentiation of the Nervous System, p 959-73 in Kandel, Eric R. et al. Principles of Neural Science, third ed. Appleton & Lange, Norwalk, CO, 1991. [This is a professional’s source for brain science. This whole chapter documents clearly profuse gender differences in the brain including: superior cervical ganglion, amygdala, dorsal hippocampus, frontal cortex. Quoting a heading: “A Wide Range of Behaviors is Influenced by Sex Differences in the Organization of the Brain” This one whole chapter in this leading work of brain science essentially invalidates the unisex model of the human brain. Read it.] This disparity of brain anatomy and physiology of the frontal lobe is one reason why never could Miriam have equaled Moses in leadership capacity, even him being younger. Numbers 12:1-10.

Summary of the Male Brain

It is becoming obvious that the male brain is made for potential leadership like that of Moses, for daring risk-taking like Jonathan’s, for discovery like Columbus’s, for moral and physical courage like David’s, for achievement like Edison’s, for mathematics like Einstein’s. Unfortunately, all these fine potential talents of both genders can be massively perverted.

The Secret Russian Experiment

Some Russian leaders decided during the cold war to “bury” the Americans.

Simple. They “crossed” the smartest officers in the Russian military with the smartest Russian women available. Their goal was the ultimate demonstration of eugenics. The Russians also hoped to accelerate their cherished views of evolution. Combining super parents would obviously produce super children who would someday rule the world. And, what about diapers and all that drudgery of old fashioned mothering? Forget it! After the birth of these super babies, the stellar genetic mothers escaped off to a liberal vacation leave by the sea in the South, while shifts of caretaker “mothers” supervised these scientifically bred progeny, destined to pass up the Americans forever.

The new babies were bright. They were fed, washed, rocked, and tended with hopeful rigor. The vacationed genetic mothers looked so fresh—even wistfully carefree and glamorous. The caretaker mothers back “home” in the lab were rarely overworked. The laboratory babies would one day be the stars of Russia. Educational “mothers” trained the infants for leadership from the very beginning. For several years the whole scheme looked very promising. Their genetically engineered progeny would be human “sputniks,” changing history forever.

Then the realities of genuine life-stress closed in on their handsome charges. High-Richter emotional earthquakes jarred the picture. Who are we? Where did we come from? Where is my MOTHER? Where is DAD? Where are yours? What is life about anyway? The boys became unglued and violent. When their wills were suddenly crossed they would jump up and smash furniture. Their fragile characters were fractured. They became selfish, uncontrolled brats.

An agressive boy lifting a fist

The new super-children turned out to resemble super-intelligent animals. They could even be called illegitimate by their peers. Then the whole macabre experiment was quietly buried, and few Westerners have heard of this daring experiment in human Lysenkoism.28)Lysenkoism: “A biological doctrine asserting the fundamental influence of somatic and environmental factors on heredity in contradiction of orthodox genetics.” Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, 10′,ed. (Remember that it was one of the original tenets of communism to do away with marriage.) This child-rearing fiasco may even help explain some of the commercial capers of the new Russian capitalists. I learned about this debacle first-hand from a highly placed CIA consultant while inside of the beltway.

The Jewish Attempt to Liberate Girls and Women and Garnish the Bottom Line Simultaneously!

I learn, in part, from Dr. Bruno Bettleheim’s Children of the Dream how the Jews hoped to achieve liberation of mothers and their daughters from conventional stereotypes and years of hard work, in order to develop female engineers, scientists, and high-achievement leaders of all sorts. Enter the NEW MODEL home, the collective, scientific, and revolutionary “kibbutz home!” The children were housed and clothed the same as boys. Away with all those frilly dresses and girlish talk; all the children were clothed in unisex coverALLS. They even had the same haircuts!’ Soon after delivery, the mothers were liberated to work for the bottom line for the local kibbutz on collective farms or factories while their babies were tended, batch-processed, if you please, by shifts of other women who would care for them scientifically. It was more like a clean factory. Why have one woman take care of only one, two, or three children. Mass care would be so much more efficient! Fond were the hopes for revolutionary liberation from those quaint restraints and the tedium of the past. Even toys were scientifically chosen and programmed in an attempt to revamp the female brain. For several years the new wheels turned hopefully.

But soon reality leaked through the holes in their dreams. Even in that egalitarian climate of the kibbutz, the new super-children gravitated to their roots. Girls played like girls. And boys with their boyish toys could well be flying through the air, firing their rockets and shooting down Russian and Arab planes in flames of glory. The unisex climate—handling, clothing, and training notwithstanding—was gender-limited. Why? Boys come prewired in the brain to be little men in the making, not white modeling clay for social engineering.

But some years after the resulting excess bed-wetting stopped, the progeny of all this new shaping of gender that was supposed to civilize the boys and liberate the girls, turned out to produce male engineers, professionals, scientists, and mechanics. The girls developed into female teachers, social leaders, and ladies happy to help and nurture. However, many of both genders seemed to have a tenacious talent for anxiety, which helps explain the bed-wetting.

Variations on the above bold ventures have been tried in America with infant children and primates and the results have shown that multiple “mothering” or maternal deficiencies confuse and compromise the infants seriously when done either by governments or universities.

The Winning Combination

The talents of the sexes are splendidly complementary. Unity in love, truth, and action is the answer. Not chauvinism, not feminism, not war, but peace. Peace that builds, blesses, and saves. The splendid talents and strong points of both men and women need to be blended and combined in cooperation instead of upbraided in erosive competition. Real men leading out in real homes where wives are queens instead of being just another toy like the car, airplane or boat for selfish masculinity to exploit. Children can really thrive in a secure, safe, loving home. Corporations and society in general need teamwork, not strife, benefitting from the skills and talents of both sexes.

A couple walking on the beach being in their first love

Sidestepping the home ministry of motherhood has failed the Russians, the Jews, and more recently the Americans. We need now to restore the essential ministry of the complete home, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers as in Malachi 4:5,6. We need to get back to the beautiful basics of building the child’s brain at the time it is most essential. The name of the game is character building. It needs both parents, but history has amply demonstrated the preeminent influences of an excellent mother. The “village” can’t do it. Neither can the government. The original model of the whole home wins hands down. At the center of this enterprise of destiny is a woman. We must wake up and restore the roots of society before it declines and falls into oblivion!

Summary

When creation was finished the quality-control verdict was, “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.” Genesis 1:31 Adam was a masterpiece: tall, strong, and ready to lead a new family and new order of being. Eve in the beginning was beautiful in life and character—a perfect companion for her husband, and mother of their children. Facts from brain and behavior labs are clear: the unisex model of the human brain is a myth. The two genders are splendidly different and complementary, not smudged copies with trivial addenda.29)Kelly, Dennis D. Chap 61, Sexual Differentiation of the Nervous System, p 959-73 in Kandel, Eric R. et al. Principles of Neural Science, third ed. Appleton & Lange, Norwalk, CO, 1991. Both genders have their strong points. What we need to do is to realize the values of both and learn to unite our talents and lives in cooperation, not competition. Pride, selfishness, and stubborn ignorance are formidable. And socially reinforced narrowness and ignorance are stultifying. The real cure to unfairness and extreme counterreactions to it comes from heaven for its source and from our enlightened choices in cooperation. If we are converted to God’s truth and the golden rule it won’t be so hard to help one another, our families, or our groups. We need to die to selfishness, to our grasping egos, and to our unrealistic dreams of how important we are, or could be, if just the establishment would be fair! Social, psychological, or political influences all have their proper place, but unless our hearts are seriously changed, neither talk, money, nor Washington can solve our problems. If they are changed, our homes, corporations, and communities will be happier, healthier, and more truly successful. We need to declare armistice in the gender war and start enjoying peace. After all, getting back to Genesis really helps; it declares, “Male and female created He them.”
